How much/little you know about Jews?

Last cell group was a joint cell gathering. Our group and Henry's had the gathering together at Kenley & Janet's sweet home. Since it was the first time for 2 groups, so I started with an ice-breaking game - pick pocket. One of the picks is "a photo of a relative". A couple counted their wedding pic for 2 points and claimed that they are relatives. Another sis showed her family pic and also claimed her mom, dad, sis are her relatives!? Is it right that family members still count as "relatives"??? I guessed all of them had fun and did help to the discussion later on no matter which team was the winner.

Chapter 3 of The Jesus I never knew -
How much/little you know about Jews? a question for everyone to think.

Do you know what professions have traditionally been considered particularly "Jewish" ?
What kind of food are forbidden?
What kind of food are associated with Jewish rituals?
What cannot be combined together in the same dish?

What was the Jewish population in the Roman Empire in Jesus' day?
What is the total no. of Jewish population in the world today?
Where do majority of them live?
How can a person become a jew besides born to be?

The above questions are introduction to initiate their interests in the discussion.
Jesus as a jew, what circumstances he was facing at that time under Roman rule?

The Jews divide among themselves into 2 groups at that time:
1. the opposition - which meant harsh posecution from the Roman govt.
2. the cooperation - which meant submitting to Roman govt interference

Among the 2 groups, they divided into 5 different parties which are clearly described in chapter 3. After reading chapter 3, we should have more knowledge about the circumstances that Jesus was facing at that time.
